This report shows how profitable your stock has been over a period you choose. For every stock item sold, it shows how many units went out, what you charged for them, what it cost the business to supply them, and the resulting profit – in both dollar and percentage terms.
Results can be shown as a list, or broken down into subtotals by stock category and by customer, with a grand total for the whole report.
Every time stock is sold on an invoice, a delivery docket, a customer return, or a debtor's purchase order, Jim2 records the quantity, the amount charged, and the cost of that stock.
This report gathers every sales record that falls within the date range, along with filters you select when you run the report, then totals them up.
Only the transaction types you tick to include (invoices, dockets, returns, debtor PO's) are counted, and only for the date range, locations, customers, stock, and other criteria you've selected on the report's setup screen.
|
These are the options on the report's setup screen. None are compulsory — leaving one blank simply means "include everything" for that filter.

Reading from the top of the report down:
•Heading – company details, the report name, and a summary of the date range and filters used.
•Grand totals – the overall qty sold, sold value, COGS, GM value, margin % and Total GP% for everything included in the report.
•Stock category subtotals (up to 5 levels) – if you set a Report Level Depth, the report breaks totals down through your stock group hierarchy (e.g. Department > Category > Sub-category), with a subtotal at each level.
•Customer subtotals – within each stock grouping, sales are further subtotalled by the customer who bought them.
•Line detail – the individual sold stock lines behind each subtotal.
•The Report Level Depth you choose when running the report controls how many of the five possible grouping levels actually appear – set it to (none) for a flatter report, or higher for more sub-totalling. |
This is where each number on the report comes from and how it's calculated.

An asterisk (*) flags a line where the cost shown is an estimate rather than a finalised cost. In"Data Only export mode this column instead shows the raw stock type code (S = Depleting, N = Non-Depleting, L = Labour, A = Applies/other charge, P = Special, D = Journal).

Real COGS
|
A second cost figure calculated by Jim2 alongside the standard COGS, shown for the report overall.
|
Grand total only
|
Calculated internally by Jim2's stock-profit engine. If this differs noticeably from COGS, it's worth checking with your Jim2 partner what's included – e.g. it may exclude estimated/allocated costs that the regular COGS figure
counts.
|
Total GP%
|
The overall gross profit % across everything shown in the report – useful as a benchmark to compare individual lines or groups against.
|
Grand total only
|
(Total sold value − Total
COGS) ÷total sold value ×
100, calculated across the whole report.
|
|
You may notice an asterisk (*) next to some lines. This flags a line where Jim2 hasn't yet locked in the final cost – most commonly on job lines that were progress-invoiced, or on credit/return lines that aren't fully cost-settled. The sold value and quantity are always final; it's specifically the cost (and therefore the margin) on that one line that's an estimate until the job or credit is finalised.
