Jim2 will automatically determine the start date of variations it creates. This will typically be the Next Bill Date of the associated master or standalone contract.
When creating the first variation for a contract, in some instances Jim2 will use a blank variation start date value. A blank variation start date indicates that the variation existed prior to when it was created in Jim2.
This will occur if any of the following are true:
▪If there are any jobs or purchase orders containing meter stock that have not been returned. This can be determined by the Active Jobs tab, or
▪If there are any entries in the opening balance table where the read/purchase is either missing or is prior to the next bill date. or
▪For a master, if any contract start reads for a child link to a read that has a missing read date.
In some situations a variation will be created and it will by default bill in arrears on its start date. This occurs in the following instances
1.If the contract is billed manually, or
2.If this option is turned on, Bill Arrears On Start date will be turned on for a variation in the following circumstances:
▪If this is the first variation against a particular contract.
▪If this is an arrears-only contract.
All other circumstances will not bill in arrears on start date.
