For typical banners that slide on the front page, these are created via Anywhere Sliders.
More advanced banners banner functions: JCarousel handles brand logos and can be used for showing other items in banner form. HTML Widgets handle complex code and can show anywhere in the system, including banners. Smart Product Collections can place product collections in a banner style on the home page. This is more interactive than a standard banner.
