Serial number requirements
Note: You can only select one option, not both. If you select 'on purchase', this will mean that the serial number will be required when both purchasing and selling the stock. |
For quality control and recall purposes, it may be necessary to track the serial numbers of stock. The following choices are available on each stock record.
Not Required |
Choose this if a stock serial number is not required to be used. This is the default setting. |
On Purchase |
This option will require a serial number to be entered for each piece of stock on receipt of the purchase order and a serial number to be selected for each stock on sale of the goods within a job. In most cases, choose on purchase if tracking of serial numbers is required. |
On Sell |
This option will require a serial number to be added for each stock on sale of the goods within a job. |
Serial numbers can only be selected for depleting and special stock. Serial# on purchase cannot be selected for stock which is not ticked as I Buy or I Manufacture. Serial# on sell cannot be selected for stock which is not ticked as This Stock I Sell.
Note: Once stock has transactions against it, the serial number settings cannot be changed. |
Attribute requirements
For reporting, control and recall purposes, stock can be categorised using attributes. The following choices are available in each stock record:
Not Required |
To be used if stock attributes are not required to be recorded. This is the default setting. |
On Purchase |
This option will require attributes to be entered for each stock on receipt of the purchase order, and attributes to be selected for each stock on sale of the goods within a job. |
On Sell |
This option will require attributes to be added for each stock on sale of the goods within a job. |
Attributes on sell can used be for all stock types, but attributes on purchase cannot be used for stock types that are not purchased (for example, non depleting, kits, labour, applies stock). |
