If the stock you are selling is set up with the stock record as Serial Number on Purchase, you will need to select which serial numbers from what is in stock you are selling to a particular customer. You cannot sell stock in advance on a job which requires a serial number on purchase.
When you enter this stock into the parts grid in a job you will see a grey ellipsis [...] on the far right of the Description field. Click this button to show the available serial numbers.

If the stock you have added to a job is set up as Serial Number on Sell, you will need to enter a serial number (maximum of 50 characters) when trying to sell this stock. You can sell serial on sell stock in advance.
To enter the serial number for the quantity of stock you are selling, select the ellipsis [...] on the far right of the Description field of the stock line and you will see the following screen for you to enter serial numbers into.
